Change color of Thumbnails

In grid mode I can't tell if all images are selected. It looks like only one image selected. I make a correction it applies to all images. They were all selected but it looked like only one was. My wife is a photographer she has same problem. Is there some way to change the color of thumbnails before or after they are selected? bigbob

When you select all image (either by using CTRL+A or clicking the first image pressing and holding Shift and clicking the last image) they all get a white cast to them. If you then click on one image, it will turn a brighter shade of white indicating that it is the "more selected" image. This is now your "lead" image meaning that if you choose to sync changes the more selected image is the image from which your setting will come.

To unselect, click on any image in the folder that isn't already selected or I believe you can press ESC.

I don't believe you can change the color of a selected image but on a properly calibrated monitor the diference between selected and unselected is very distinct... I suspect you are looking at selected and "more selected" images.

Thanks for the response. I have a profile for my monitor . I just can't see a big difference between selected and unselected thumbnails. I can see the one that I am viewing. The problem I have, I guess can't be resolved. I will have to be a little more observant. bob

It may be a CTL+D to unselected all images?

OK, if you look carefully, you can tell what's selected. The problem is, it's not obvious. I've screwed it up several times. I agree with BigBob that it should be a lot more obvious than it is now.

I think for most Users the contrast used is enough. The problem is for a subset of users whose eye sight is such that the current contrast scheme is not enough. Maybe something could be done for you with a color or more effective contrast.

This is a major concern for my Deptartment at work. Exhibits for a Museum, where we have to be careful of problems for colorblind and those who have trouble with low contrast situations.

I do have vision problems (time to see the eye doctor again!).

Contrast, font sizes... perhaps it is an accessibility issue where software developers may someday need to cater more attentively to the needs of our aging population's eyes (mine). I regularly do CTL++ on browser web pages to increase font size and you should see how many sites fall apart..

I have to agree that the difference should be greater...
There is a difference for sure, but I agree that it is too slight... and really requires you to double check -- which I don't always do -- :(

I have never had problems judging color or contrast... have worked in printing and photography my whole adult life and my monitors are all calibrated with the Pantone Huey Pro... so I can't imagine them being too far off.

This really should not be an issue and would seem to be something that Adobe could easily change...

Maybe this thread should be moved to Feature requests...?

Color Thumbnails

selected thumbnails inside of a group of already selected thumbnails

I've been thinking about this, and I don't think it is the difference in color or density of the thumbnails that actually causes me problems.

I think it might be the ability to have a individual selection, inside of a previous selection of many images, that has caused me the occasional problems.

This is something that happens when I have a group of thumbnails in a collection selected to synch some kind of correction to them and mainly when they are selected in the "film strip" window. When I click on an image in the film strip that I want to make a PS correction on, it shows slightly lighter, making me think it is the only one selected... If I decide to open it for editing in photoshop I can suddenly find photoshop opening dozens of 5'mb files... this usually makes for a nice little delay in my workflow... especially if I already had other windows open in PS that need to remain open...

I am sure there are a myriad of good reasons why it should be possible to have this "double selection" capability, but I can't think of them off hand... and it kind of goes against my brains way of processing. When i select one image by clicking on it I don't usually expect whatever I do to it to apply to files I had previously selected...

Perhaps some sort of "Are you sure you want to edit 3' files?" warning dialog would be useful here. I'd suggest submitting a feature request.

Wow, I doubt there's a single editing session for me that doesn't involve deliberately selecting multiple images. If you aren't doing that on a regular basis, I think you're missing out one some of Lightroom's most powerful features.

That said, if you can train yourself to click on the frame around an image rather than on the image itself, it will select only that image, deselecting all others.
