Hi

I am not entirely sure how I should set that up.
What do I select ind the Standard Preview Size dropdown list? My display property is set at 168' x 1'5' pixels, Colour Quality 'Highest 16bit'. Should I use Medium 16 bit colour quality instead?

My Preview Quality is set to Medium. What should I select?

Thanks
Pat

Hi Pat!

These choices are basically a tradeoff between speed and quality. Medium is a good choice. It will give you sufficiently good previews and be less slow at generating them.

Pat, if I understand you correctly you are asking two things here.
1. The preview size in relation to your monitor resolution - the preview size ought to be at least as big as your screen so 168' or larger.
2. Settings for your monitor High 16bit or medium? This I don't know about.

Preview quality is akin to JPEG compression settings. Lower quality previews take less space on disk, and there's less data to read off the disk so they may be a little faster once rendered, but they don't look as good.

You lost me here Mark  So the Preview Quality setting in the File handling section of the Catalog Setting is refeering to JPEG and not when I select to show the file in either Library/Development mode at 'Fit' to View Lope mode?

The Previews are indeed shown in Loupe (and other Library views). The *quality* of the image seen in Loupe (and other Library views) is affected by the Preview Quality setting.

The Preview Quality selection does not affect the Develop module.
