Lightroom Version Number
Lightroom Classic version 9.2
Operating System
  1. macOS 10.14 Mojave
The external hard drive with my catalog and backups accidentally became disconnected from my iMac. When I logged on to L/R Classic after reconnection, I received the message "Catalog cannot be found do you want to use the default catalog or choose a new one" The drop down list which I think is the default one (but not sure) contains only one catalog which is very old so I ignored that and opted to "choose a new one". When I select the correct catalog on the external hard drive it is greyed out and can't be connected. I would welcome any suggestions to correct this as I have photos to upload and process from a shoot yesterday.

If you know where the current catalog is, but Lightroom refuses to recognize and/or open it, then most likely it was damaged by the disconnection. Did you make regular catalog backups?

Lightroom Zips the backups. Make sure that you unzip them before you try to open them.
