Can't Work on Imported Photos....error mssg

OK I admit it. I've never set up my lightroom folders like Scott said to do in his book. I was saving the RAW files to my desktop and importing them into LR one by one and resaving Jpegs in another folder. I usually downloaded the files off my camera teathered.

Now this am I decided to put the card in my PC and LR automatically uploaded all the RAW files. I could see them as thumbnails. Great!! I figured I could now convert them and adjust the WB ect off the thumbnails.

Not!! It lets me click on the photo..but when I go to the Develop tab it gives me an error mssage. "the file named "....." is offline or missing"

I don't want to have to rename my 1''' wedding raw files to upload them one at a time. Why is this happening????

When you import from a card, you need to ask Lightroom to copy them to your hard drive as part of the Import process. You probably imported them in place, but now the card is no longer connected and so Lightroom cannot find the original files.

Hope you still have the card, and it hasn't been overwritten...

Yes I have it not to worry lol.
Well I had Lightroom save them to a folder on my desktop. So is it a directing problem??

Okay, so I guess I was wrong about the nature of the problem.

Lightroom is giving that message because it can't find the file where it thinks it should be. Usually that's because you moved it or renamed it (or moved or renamed a parent folder) outside of Lightroom.

To direct Lightroom to the new location, right-click on the top-level missing folder in the Folders panel and select "Find Missing Folder" from the context menu. The missing folders will have a ? next to them.

If none of them do, then it's just individual files rather than whole folders that are missing. In that case, click the ? that's next to the thumbnail of the missing image in the grid.
