I guess this must have been pointed out before - in which case I apologise for repeating it :-)

While Lightroom accepts accented characters in captions and keywords there is no easy way of getting them in there - I am having to use an external text editor and cutting/pasting text.

The reason seems to be a Lightroom-specific keyboard driver which re-interprets the "dead" accent key as being an apostrophe - my "á" (two keystrokes, a dead-key "´" followed by "a") becomes "´a" .....

This obviously doesn't affect those keyboard setups that dedicate keys to accented characters - but with accents used over every single vowel I don't think we Icelanders could get away with that!

Leifur Hákonarson (yes, even my name suffers from this syndrome!)

"Known bug" - but how about a fix?

So, I did a little reasearch (which some would argue I should have done before posting my original message!).

A search on "accents" turns up three threads, two of which are relevant to the issue. According to "Kiwigeoff" this was recognised as a bug (which it most certainly is) back in Februrary - it's now September ...

I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would want to write their own keyboard handler (apparently at a very low level) but if they do then the onus is on them to do it right, right?

Should it be an issue (which is possible), the option of using the same language for LR and for the operating system is a non-starter for most of the world's languages for the obvious reason that Ligtroom only exist in a few languages.
