The "movie" files from iPhone go into LR as the codec is unavailable and can't generate preview. The files do not open, either, in iMac although they are fine on the phone. Do I need to do something on the phone or on the computer, or both, and, if so, what?

Thanks. John

Did you set your iPhone camera preferences to 'High Efficiency'? That records in HEIF/HEVC format which Lightroom does not support (yet).

Thanks, I set the phone as you suggest, some while ago. It has set back to HEIF apparently, probably when a new version of iOS loaded.
Now I need to find a way to convert existing HEIFs to JPEG or DNG, from my computer.
