Can't import CR2 from Canon 500D/T1i

I know similar topics have come up before on the 5'D and similar cameras, but they usually say "upgrade to 2.3". I'm on 2.3, and can't get Lightroom to import any CR2 photos from my 5''D.

Here's a test image:

During import, it says "preview unavailable", then in the results it says "the files appear to be unsupported or damaged."

I'm new to Lightroom, FWIW.

Hi tedder, welcome to the forum!

You're on the right track. The 5''d isn't supported in LR 2.3 - it'll be added in 2.4, once that's available. In the meantime, the DNG Converter 5.4 is available from Adobe Labs and would allow you to convert the files to DNG format which LR 2.3 would be able to import. It's either that or hold on until 2.4 is available, but there's no official release date yet. Here's the Adobe Labs link: http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/Camera_Raw_5.4
