Can't find .lrdata for catalog

I did a search on my computer for .lrdata for the only catalong I have on LR. The search yielded nothing. I would like to renme this catalog and from what I read on a old post here (Victoria) I have to rename the .lrdata for the catalog with the same name. But I can't find the .lrdata. Any suggestions? TIA

.lrdata is located a folder that defaults to being hidden in Windows. This is probably why you are not finding it. I'm not sure how the folder is named in XP but it may be called "Application Data". In Vista and Windows7, the folder is C:Users{userName}AppData The full path on my Win7 machine is: "C:\Users\cletus\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Catalogs"

It should be right next to the catalog file, in the same folder.

If you fail to rename the previews database, it's not the end of the world -- LR will generate new ones. However, you'll be using double the space while the old previews database hangs around.

If your catalog is named for example as MyCatalog2.lrcat then the previews will be named MyCatalog2Previews.lrdata and as Mark say, it will be right next to the catalog. (Note the "Previews" suffix)

Another search in Window Explorer -- not found.

That's where I looked initially, but it does not appear there.

I may have looked in the wrong place, but I searched Window's Explorer and came up empty.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm still open to receiving more.

Larry,

Try this:

Catalog Settings ... / General Tab / Location - click Show

This will lead you to the folder of your catalog in explorer, and when you double-click this folder, you'll see your .lrdata folder in there.
