Canon 5D exif info

I have had a forum user from photo board that I am on and he has asked this question below

Andrew, I have a question regarding Exif info in LR.

In Bridge (CS2) I can see the metadata of a 5D Raw and it includes the whitebalance mode the camera was in (auto, cloudy, custom etc.).

However...I can't get LR to show me this. It does show the aperture, shutter etc, but not the camera WB setting.

Any ideas on how to get to see this in LR

I don't have a Canon 5D to test it out and wondered if anyone on here knew the answer.

I hate to tell you this, but I can't actually think of a way of showing additional metadata, sorry.

I didn't think there was but didn't want to say in case I had missed something. I guess the only way is to not use a preset on import and see what the develop white balance is set to.

Thanks Richard. The user can get his information from Bridge. I am trying to convert them to LR. I will ask him to put in a feature request if it is really important to him.

Oh that's a good idea Richard! I still haven't had chance to look properly at that - will it allow you to see metadata that isn't shown in the ALL view?

There are indeed some fields that are not shown in All, but they're generally other versions of fields that are shown (like Exposure Time vs. Shutter Speed, etc.)

I think Jeffrey has a preset there somewhere that will reveal all of the fields; if you can't find it, let me know.

Hmm, ok, interesting exercise. Won't help you on this one I'm afraid Andrew, it still doesn't show that data.

I created an 'absolutely everything' preset, but it's not there (unless it's hiding.... :roll:)

Thanks for the help guys. I will pass this onto my friend, it might help him with other stuff. I have told him to put in a feature request with Adobe.

I use ImageIngesterPro (cross platform) and you can create a script to put certain metadata into custom fields which can be shown. Which might help.

Thanks Richard and the rest of you for your replies. I am going to try and persuade him to join this forum as I feel it is the best one around for LR and it is a warm and welcoming group with lots of great people and info.

A wee bit about myself:
I'm Theo (48 yrs), a fulltime wedding and portrait photographer based in the south of the Netherlands. As such I used Bridge and Photoshop/ACR for my images until I bought LR last year.

I always shoot RAW...dating back to my S2Pro in 2''3, before that I shot film and jpeg :D.
Nowadays I shoot with three Canon 5D cameras each "loaded" with a prime.

Needless to say my mothertongue is Dutch, but I'll manage in English I suppose ;).

Hi Theo,

Before anyone else says anything, if you can fill in your signature details like everyone else then it is easier for others to see what system you are using and can help easier.

English might help.... anything else will be double dutch to us, and replies might be a bit nonsensical! ;)
