I shoot with a Nikon D3''. I have been using LR 1.1 for over a year, with jpeg images. I cannot load my raw images into LR, is this version too old, or is there a simple setting I can change?

Sadly, the right answer is that Lightroom 1.4.1 (and earlier) is too old as this camera was introduced lately.
Two solutions: The best is to upgrade to Lightroom 2.4. The other is to convert your NEF files from the D3'' to DNG with the help of the free "Adobe DNG Converter".
