Sync Cannot get rid of all Sync activity in Lightroom Classic

Hi,
(Running Lightroom Classic 14. 3 on macOS 15.4.1 on a M4 Max MacBook Pro with 4+ TB free space, 64GB RAM, and Gigibit Up/Down internet.)

I had major problems with LR taking forever to sync, so I followed all instructions here to remove all images from the "All Synced Photographs" folder. I have confirmed that there are zero images in Adobe Lightroom CC app, nor online at lightroom.adobe.com. Nor are there any Sync Error folders in any of the versions of Lightroom.

However in Lightroom Classic, the Sync Activity window still shows "Syncing 112,911 photos" and this number is decreasing VERY slowly, about 1 photo every 40 seconds or so. When I click on the gear, and wait awhile, nothing shows up in the Sync Activity window. Pausing and resuming does nothing to speed it up, nor does quitting and relaunching or restarting the computer.

At this rate it will take a few days to clear, assuming that it doesnt get stuck. Any suggestions on how to clear this activity? I do not mind to loose 100% of my synced information as intend to start from scratch on Lightroom Mobile (which I only use for displaying my portfolio). But I've read the warnings not to click "Delete All Synced Data" or "Rebuild Synced Data" as those both apply to previous versions of Lightroom and could cause problems. (But at this point, I've done everything I can think of so it's awfully tempting to try!!!)

Grateful for any suggestions.
 
Close LrC
Using Mac Finder, navigate to the folder containing your catalog
Delete the "<catalogname> Sync.lrdata" file

@Califdan - OK, that worked. Thank you.

Now I'm starting to re-sync needed Collections, but less-than-impressed by the speed.
What is the biggest bottleneck here?
As mentioned, I'm on Gigabit Ethernet so overall bandwidth is not the issue.
Is this a case of Adobe's servers being too slow to handle the incoming data?

How much of the speed is due to local pre-processing? Activity Monitor is showing Lightroom Classic at around 10%, which is tiny.
I understand that for syncing to LR Cloud, Lightroom creates its own "SmartPreview-like" previews which are NOT the same as the standard Smart Preview. I have Smart Previews built for most images already, but does having an existing Smart Preview help to speed up the process at all?

Anything else to help speed up the process?
 
Sync preformance is predominatly influenced by network speed. Rememver no matter how fast the fastest portion of network path is, the ultimate speed will be that of the slowest portion. Along the way, firewalls, VPN, less than optimal network service providers can all slow down the traffic.

When you say you're on a Gigabit Ethernet is that just your local LAN or do hyou have a commercial grade connection to the internet?

Most private users have WiFi to their home router (sometimes E/N cable), then some ISP (Comcast, Verizon, ATT, Dish, etc) from their router to their ISP's local hub. From there many times it goes to the ISP's central hub where it is injected into the world internet that routes it however it sees fit to the final destination which in this case is an Adobe server farm someplace.. I'm not a networking person but I suspect you could figure out the IP address of the adobe server, ping it and see what the time is.
