Hi gurus... I just built a new system with windows vista and am in the process of migrating everything over. i have mounted my catalog and what not. but my issue right now is i can't seem to delete images. i can remove them from the library but i can't delete. i get the message

"There were x files that could not be moved to the Recycle Bin"

has anybody else had this problem?

okay.. in the middle of typing this.. i solved my own problem. so i might as well post for other users. the vista UAC makes even admins run at a non-admin level. so it will prompt you before every delete. lightroom (at least my version) doesn't allow a user to acknowledge this prompt so it fails. if you right click on lightroom, go to compatibility, and then click "run this program as an administrator" you will be all set.

if there's a better solution, please let me know. THANX

Found solution

I found out how to delete files from your disk in Lightroom. I am using Vista 64 (new computer), and Lightroom 1.1, and I have my photo files on an external hard drive.

I opened Computer, then navigated to the hard drive I have all my photos on. I then went to the the first folder in that drive. Here is what to do:

Right click on the folder.
Click on Properties.
Click on Security.
Under Group or user names: find and select your name
Click on Edit (To change permissions).
Click on Add
Click on Advanced.
Click on Find Now.
Scroll down and find your name.
I selected my name (Computer-Name\My name & Users my name)
Click OK
Under the Security tab/Group or user names: select your name.
Click on Full Control (If I remember right, everything else will fill in - if not check everything.)
Click Apply
Click OK

You might want to have a look at upgrading to version 1.4 if you are still at 1.1. I believe that you will find the changes welcome.
