Lightroom Version Number
13.1
Operating System
  1. macOS 14 Sonoma
I have macbook pro running macOS 14.1.1 Sonoma, Lightroom Classic (desktop) 13.1, m1max processor, 64GB memory. When I open lightroom, I select ‘create a new catalog’, select the directory where I want it (in my Pictures directory), create a folder where I want the catalog files created, but I never see the ‘create’ button highlighted so I can select it. I have 6-8 catalogs that were created under lightroom version 12 or earlier and successfully updated to version 13. But I cannot create a new catalog under version 13. Any suggestions to fix this problem? Just as reference, the last time I saw this problem a few years back I was working on windows platform and for a workaround I needed to make a copy of any catalog that I had already backed up and gut the stuff in the copy before adding my photos. Not a nice work around because certain folders could not be renamed. And I need a new catalog for each piece of work (in this case each of my travels).

Solution
Solved my problem…it’s a mistake on my part….I think it’s the first time I ever created a new LrC catalog on Mac (I’m a previous long time Windows user).
I didn’t know that I needed to enter the name for new catalog in the ‘save as’ field (windows was different). I had only created a folder (for catalog)…basically entered the name in the wrong place. Now all is well.
Thank you!
With 6-8 catalogs, that's probably 5-7 too many, but that's another discussion.

As you are on a Mac, make sure that LrC has "Full Disk Access" (nothing else will do).

Check your disk space on the drive you're trying to use.

Make sure the catalog name you are choosing is a valid name for folder/files in your OS (doesn't have restricted special symbols, doesn't start or end in a space, Etc.

If none of those work, send screen shot of the create new catalog screen filled in as you are trying.
