I find that I just can not apply my preset metadata to my photos now, and there is only one option--copy metadata is choose-able--others are grey.
It happens in both new and old photos.
The problem just came, and I have no idea what I did resulted in that.
Thanks for any help.

My lightroom is the newest 2.'.

kaiser, I'm not exactly certain I'm clear on when this is happening. Are you right-clicking on the image in Grid or Loupe and selecting Metadata Presets?

What happens if you select the drop-down list in the Preset selector, just below the Metadata Panel header in the RH Panel?

I'm on Windows, but somewhere near here:

*Mac - [systemdrive]/Users/[your username]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/
Lightroom/Presets/

there should be a Metadata Presets folder. What does the content of that folder look like?

Yes.
when I right-clicking on the image in Grid or Loupe and selecting Metadata Presets, it doesn't work, but it does work in the Metadata Panel header.

I'd have a look at this thread:

Troubleshooting LR

If it's working in one place and not the other, sounds as if it may just be a temporary User Interface glitch.
