Can LR work on a card without importing files ?

My first post. Hi to all.

Ver 2.4

I would like to work on files on a card. I do not wish to import these files into LR or my HD.
I am using ACDSee at this time and this is easily possible.
I want to alter and adjust the pics on my card and have them remain on my card.

No you cannot do what you seek with LR, you can with Bridge though.
LR requires importation to a catalog to access and work on files.

Hi skronk, welcome to the forum!

Well, you can add to catalog at the existing location, which will work as long as the card is seen as a drive and not as a camera (i.e. through a card reader), and then you could save (most of) the settings to xmp, and then delete them from your LR catalog, but it's hardly an ideal scenario. Can you tell us a bit more about what you're trying to accomplish and why, and maybe we can provide a few more pointers.
