Can I batch import folders?

At the moment I use the Zoombrowser which came bundled with my camera to import the images from the memory card. I've lately started shooting everything in RAW, but now every time I want to do PP on a RAW photo, the Zoombrowser tells me I have to convert it.

So now I simply want to import all the images on my hardrive into Lightroom. The problem is there are 483 folders, and I don't particularly want to spend the rest of the summer importing folders. Is there any way to import them all at one fell swoop?

Yes, if there's a parent folder. If not, create one for the time being.

Then, in the import dialog file browser, single click on the parent folder. Now, look at the bottom of the file browser, cunningly hidden down below the Choose/Cancel buttons, is Import from Selected Folder, click that. That will bring up a detailed import dialog box, which among other things will let you choose all or some of the 483 folders, down to the level of individual images.

Personally, I'd try for smaller subsets. Maybe not try to import all 483 on the first go.
