Hello,

I have a quick question which might have already been posted here regarding ratings.
I have stupidly rated all the small Jpegs I sent to a client after they got back to me with their selection choice.
Now I realise that I should have done that to the DNG's which I will be working on .
Since I am lazy and I want to avoid having to re-pick 4'' images out of 3''' I was wondering if their is a way I can maybe annotate the rating system I have done to my jpegs to my DNG's who have the same naming except .dng and .jpeg.
If anyone could help I would be very happy.

Welcome to the forums Anne-Sophie!

It seem that you reimported the Exported JPEGs back in Lightroom! You may have your reasons as it is not a general good practice as you discovered. Most just destruct their exports after sending or else.

What I would do in this case hoping that the original and exported filenames are still the same:
  1. Menu -> Edit -> Preferences, Import tab, check "Treat JPEG files next to raw files as separate photos".
  2. Create a Collection named "SyncStars" or whatever.
  3. Add all the originals to this collection
  4. Add all the exported JPEGs to this collection also.
  5. Sort by filename
  6. In grid view, make it so that an even number of images show per row (2, 4, 6...).
  7. Hand input the ratings in the DNGs looking at the equivalent JPEg that should be just beside it.
A little long but the best I can offer. Anyone?
