Can Chromebooks with dual-core processors (8 GB ram) handle Android (Mobile) Lightroom?

The system requirements for Lightroom is *officially* quad core, but I find that finding quad core CPUs for Chromebooks is really tricky unless you go to the super-premium range; in fact, it is probably easier just to go with a Windows 10 machine for quad-core CPUs. Presumably this is because the vast majority of work done on Chromebooks don't require quad-cores.

However, Adobe has released a version of Lightroom for Android. This is not their full-fledged app for PCs, but a lighter version that works in the cloud. Yet, even for this version, the official specs still say quad-core and 4GB ram is required. I can actually find budget chromebooks with 4 or even 8GB ram, but there seem to be none satisfying the quad-core requirement.

My question is: has anyone actually tried running Lightroom mobile on a dual core processor? Does it run acceptably? I don't want to have to get a super-pricey Chromebook just for this one app, so if I can make do with a dual-core, I would prefer it.

I purchased a low-end Chromebook ($200-250 CAD) about three years ago and installed LR Mobile on it. I don't recall its specifications, but they were minimal at the price I paid. At that time you had to play with the Chromebook operating system to get it to accept Android apps. I also installed several other Android apps along with LR Mobile. As I recall, LR Mobile ran quite adequately on the Chromebook. After using it for a few weeks, I wiped the Chromebook clean and returned it to the store as I had other options.

I suggest you buy one from a box store where you can return it if it doesn't prove adequate for you.
