Hi All,
In Lightroom 2 what is the maximum Camera Raw Cache Setting? Is there a max L/R requires?, or is it Max of your Ram fitted to your computer? or say 5'% of total ram fitted, Or the amount of HDD space you want to give L/R to run smoothly..:|

Mark Hamburg the author of LR said that using this cache speeds reopening files in the Develop Mode and rebuilding of Library Previews. If you have the disk space then it is worth boosting this to 1'GB or even up to 5'GB.

Denis, that's sort of a mystery (so much so, that I'm starting to think it's a trade secret :) ), but we are assured that it does affect LR, even if you are not using ACR in any fashion.

I have increased my cache from 5GB to 5'GB and L/R is running very smooth, Sliders move better, Brush tool works better adjustments are not delayed as you apply. I have been haveing CS3 Bridge crashes for sometime and at the moment that seems fine to..

It definitely makes a big difference, and the bigger the cache the better. Even users who haven't got ACR on their computer use that same cache folder.

If you want to investigate further, leave that cache folder open in Windows Explorer/Finder as you move around LR, and you'll see cache files being built as you open any file in Develop, and when making certain other changes in Library too.
