I am currently using LR 1.4.1, have purchased the 2.' upgrade, but have not yet installed it. I use ImageIngester to rename, back up and convert my NEF files to DNG before they are imported into LR. ImageIngester works in conjunction with Adobe's free DNG converter, which I believe is a subset of ACR. Currently, Image Ingester uses version 4.4.1 of the DNG converter to create the files that I import into LR 1.4.1. I have a large batch of images I need to convert, and was wondering if ImageIngester uses the newer version 4.5 of the DNG converter rather than 4.4.1, can my newly created files still be imported into LR 1.4.1? I am not certain if there would be a future gain (regarding the new DNG Profile Editor) when the catalog with these files is converted from 1.4.1 to 2.', but I was hoping to save myself the trouble of having to possibly re-convert these files to take advantage of the new calibration settings for NEF files that LR 2.' offers. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. I have been under a tight deadline receently and have not had time to do my proper research in this matter.

Thanks,

Up date your 1.4.1 with the L/R 2 that will update your catalogue's etc, use L/R2 import and convert to DNG, with keywords this will save you time converting before importing. I have downloaded the beta camera colour profiles from Adobe and use Nikon profiles as well as the ACR 4.5..

ACR is backwards compatible, so using ACR 4.5 to create DNG's will still allow you to view and edit them in earlier versions.
