Three times I have downloaded the LR camera profiles and followed the instructions for installation. But when I open LR 2.1 and go to camera calibration, there are no profiles there except "embedded." Is there some dumb little thing that I've failed to do or notice? Thank you.

Nikon D90

I suspect it is the D9'. When I open photos taken with the D4', the profiles reappear. Hopefully Adobe will update the profiles to include the D9' soon.

Nikon D90

The profiles are Camera-specific - if you can try it with another camera then D9' (D2'' and D3'' also work fine) - an old scanned photo also gives only 'embedded'

The problem seems to be camera model. I downloaded a file from my D8' and the profiles showed up. Show I shall have to wait for Adobe to update for the D9'. So it goes. Thanks for your help.

Hi Dale, the "camera profiles" are available only for NEFs,

if you open a JPEG, it will show just "embedded"...

Well spotted Ste!

Hans, Dale, SphericMojo, welcome to the forum!

Welcome to all the new people posting in this thread.
The D9' was not out when the profiles were released. So there are none available yet.
I believe they will get updated but you may want to check on the site where you downloaded them.
this will help:

Camera Profile for D200??

Hello. Appreciate all the great information on this forum. I just downloaded the latest Camera Profiles but I still cannot see any my D2'' camera listed within the camera calibration profiles drop down menu in LR2. I tried to re-import some .NEF's but still cannot see the D2'' option. I checked to see if the .DCP file is on my computer and it indeed is. For some reason I see the D2X profiles but nothing for the D2''. I must be missing something - please help.

Garpo, you have the correct files. The D2X profiles is a Nikon naming protocol that is used on all Nikon models - not just D2X's. It is a style rather than a camera model.
Welcome aboard, to help us help you could you please take a moment to fill in your signature with information similar to what I have, in the "userCP' that is found at the top left of the page - thanks.

Excellent - thank you for the prompt reply. I assume that when I see a profile in that drop down menu with Camera XXXX - "Camera" would mean my D2''. Correct? You would think if I am working with a D2'' file I would see various D2'' profiles which match my camera. Also, are my in camera settings (Saturation, etc) included in the .NEF file when I import into LR? Also - how do presets differ from camera profiles? Many thanks - you guys are great!

Yes, all of the camera profiles you see are specifically for your camera, whether they say D2X or not. Like Geoff said, Adobe is just duplicating the Nikon naming convention there.

Also, are my in camera settings (Saturation, etc) included in the .NEF file when I import into LR?

No, nothing has changed there -- Adobe cannot read any of that stuff, except white balance.

Also - how do presets differ from camera profiles?

Completely different animal -- Develop Presets are just collections of slider settings. Camera Profiles are created with the DNG Profile Editor (a separate application).

Thank you once again. Just wanted to clarify if perhaps you meant to say LR instead of Nikon above. I think you are saying that LR does not read any in camera settings except for WB but wanted to make sure. Thanks again.
