My wife is currently trying out Lightroom 2.5, 64 bit. When she tried to import photos from a Canon SX2''IS nothing happened. Apparently the program does not see the device. It works fine with her Canon 4'D, but not with this particular model. Any help would be appreciated.

Your profile does not disclose the OS being used. If it is windows, then it it possible that the USB device Canon SX2''IS is not defaulting to opening with LR and LR does not 'see' it. If you tell us a little more about the version of windows, we can probably help you register it to the OS properly to be recognised by LR. The best solution is as Mark suggests. Use the card reader instead of the camera. Card readers take their power from the computer and do not drain the camera battery. They generally have faster transfer speeds too.

Okay, for some reason Lightroom 64bit will read the card when plugged directly into the PC, but will not read when camera is plugged in. Any suggestions of why this is happening?

Can you see the camera using Windows Explorer as a drive?

[/quote]You may need to re-install the device driver that came with the camera. You might begin by uninstalling all the camera software and making a clean pass. None of the camera software is needed with LR. After uninstalling, just plug in the Camera to the USB and respond to the Prompts Windows gives you when it detects the 'new' device. Another possibility is the device driver is for 32 bit OS and not the 64 bit. If you have a working card reader, you really don't need the camera attached to the PC.

the SX2''IS requires that you be in Playback mode to be seen. If you plug in the cables and then turn on the camera by hitting the play button (Box with an arrow) on the back of the camera. Wait and see if Windows sees the camera as a drive. If it does, LR should work. If not, can the Canon-supplied software (Canon Camera Window) see the camera?
Edit: The other issue might be that there is no 64-Bit driver for the SX2''IS camera. Many Canon cameras do not have 64 bit drivers. For example. Vista 64 will recognize the 4'D but will not the 5D or the 2'D. No word from Canon on when or if they will ever recognize 64bit in some of their cameras.
