I'm wondering if anyone knows if there are any third party plug-in that will allow you to burn your photos to cd/dvd in Lightroom 2 64 bit running on Windows Vista?

Thanks for any leads you might give me.

There aren't any plug-ins I know of that would do it.

You can, however, set a standard DVD burning app (like Roxio/Nero/Toast) to be your post-processing tool. Go to Export > Post-Processing. Choose Open in Other Application... and navigate to the .exe of the app. Then, when you export, it will place the images in a folder that you specify earlier in the Export dialog and will put them in the burn queue of the program you chose.

I've tried this a bit and it works well - your mileage may vary depending on which burning app you choose.

Good point - I failed to mention that, even though it's also what I do. In my opinion, it's a bit simpler (and free). The other solution I mentioned is a bit more automated, though.

Glad you got some responses Terri, take a moment to fill in your signature with system info etc in userCP and that will help with getting to the point answers......;)

I have my photos, both raw and JPEG, on my hard drive and just burn the DVD from there with Windows7.

Sorry to bump this post back into the present. I came accross it looking for Windows7 related posts. Reading it however I have to ask if when burning to DVDs ...you then catalogue them in LR? If so what is the best way of doing that?

I was hoping I could import from the card to LR, saving on a specified drive/directory and 'backing up' to a dvd simultaneously. To me that would be the most efficient way but it seems that because LR isn't equipped to write to a DVD directly ..that option is unavailable. Have I got that right? If so did Adobe include it in the new version?

You haven't missed anything there... no you can't back up to DVD at the same time as importing.

What's your current backup system? How do you see DVD's fitting into that?
