border proportionally equal on non square images of different sizes

Hello, I need to create a border on many (over a thousand) images of different pixel sizes. Most of the images are not square. The borders need to appear relatively proportional regardless of how big or small the image size is. Using an action that increases (relative) canvas size by percentage creates borders of the same proportion, but on images that are not square, the x and y borders are different sizes. (insert sad face here). Is there a way to do this in photoshop (or lightroom) I am not aware of that works on non square images? There is an old post on another forum that asks this question, (https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/need-action-that-makes-an-equal-sized...) and (https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/action-that-uses-a-percentage-of-imag...) but the answers involve scripting and honestly I did not understand... Thank you in advance.

The LR/Mogrify2 plug-in for LrC allows border sizes to be specified as a percentage of the pixel size of the edge (all 4 edges can be set to the same size, or can be specified individually).

@ipanema I am not sure my suggestion is workable for you, but here goes-
Lightroom-Classic Print module can define a page layout with a cell size (eg. a square). Any image in the Library that is selected for the Print module will print so as to FIT within the cell, irrespective of the image pixel dimensions (Small images sampled 'up'. Large images sampled 'down.) so a 'thousand'
Square, Portrait and Landscape images will FIT within the cell.
You could define different cell dimensions for Portrait or Landscape images and the cell with borders will always be 'proportional' when JPGs created.
In the Print Module you would [Print to File]- creating JPGs derivatives of your images.

You might want to look at https://precisionpresets.etsy.com

These are Presets that you can add inside Lightroom that add a border, and they're always proportional

There's a free sampler bundle of the Presets on the Adobe Exchange, search for 'Precision Presets'.
