Bitmap-y logo when adding watermark in LR3beta

Hello. I'm having trouble adding my logo as a watermark without it getting all bitmap-y. I've even tried using Mogrify, but I don't think the graphical insert feature works on the beta version of LR (I can get the add text feature to work, but not the graphical). I like LR3 and the fact that it has an add watermark feature in the export section, but I wonder if this disables Mogrify. Anyone know?

As for my settings, I've tried to make the logo really big so that LR3 wouldn't automatically resize it too small when i select it. The logo is saved as a .png file. I'm using Mac OS 1'.5.

Hi chickenboy, welcome to the forum!

The new watermark feature is very new and very buggy in the beta, so I'd expect them to have ironed out the bugs by the final release. Sounds like the bitmap-yness (great word!) is probably one of those bugs. You could try using it on a smaller file output (i.e. 6''px longest edge) and see if that's better.

The watermark feature won't disable LR/Mogrify, but again, there might be a few bugs in the plugins at the moment.

Victoria -- thank you for your reply. Yes, I am new to the forum and new to LR as well. I had seen a blog entry you did on Mogrify before so I checked it out to see if that would solve the issue. However, I can't get Mogrify to do a graphical insert if I have LR3's watermark feature turned on. I can get it to put in a graphical insert in, but I think LR is overriding Mogrify's settings as the location of the watermark won't change no matter where I have Mogrify say it should go. And if I have LR's watermark feature turned off, I can't get anything. Any thoughts for a work around or should I just wait for the final release?

Have you updated to 4.14? It was throwing errors when I tried with 4.11 but I've just updated and both are now working at the same time. They're entirely separate operations. Try just with Mogrify for a start.
