I've tried to get this answered in several other places, but can't get any help. Maybe here.

If the Keyword structure is:

PLACES
Yellowstone
Mountains
Waterfalls
Tetons
Lake
Peaks
River

Asume images were assigned the child keyword, River.

In 2.5 the River keyword number is incremented by the number of images assigned, and so is Tetons. That is Tetons contains all of the images in all its child keywords as well as those assigned directly to Tetons.

In 3 beta, only River get incremented and the images can't be seen using the Keyword, Tetons.

If this is how it will be it is a major change, and a change for the worse.

Can anyone comment on this issue?

I've already made a report to Adobe, but no answer. Just in case it is unique to my system, maybe you could try it out and see what you get. If we make a lot of keywords in 3 Beta, it becomes a big problem.

I'm seeing the same behavior on my Windows / Vista / 64bit version. True, the keyword count does not increment for parent categories ("Tetons" in your example), but the Library filter for keywords works properly (you will find images with keywords "Lake" "Peaks" or "River" if you specify "Keyword contains 'Tetons'"). It would be much handier to use the keyword list. Hope they fix that. For now I'm using a calculator to double-check everything.

Thanks Cindy. Your work around indicates that it isn't a basic change in the keyword structure, but just a glitch in the database coding. I expect it can be fixed. People should just be aware of this issue.

Thanks for finding and reporting that.Keep in mind that it is strongly recommended to work only with copies as there is no guarantee that work will be readable in the final LR3 version when released. The beta is designed for testing only. If you use it for production work the risk lies with you.
