Best way to record which photographer took the photo...

I use Lightroom to primarily organize family photos and I'm trying to figure out the best way/process to record who took the photo. 95% of the time it's me, but occasionally we get photos from other family members (or friends) added to the catalog that I would like to distinguish from mine. I thought of creating a "Photography" Keyword group with their names within, but that info conflicts with auto-complete when that person is under the "Family" keyword group as well (john > Photographer vs john > Family). Then I thought of keeping the photographer information in the metadata area, but that's not as easy as keywords on import (or maybe this is the best way?).

Therefore, I'm just looking for some opinions or thoughts from anyone who may have encountered the same problem.

In the metadata section, there is an IPTC Contact block and one of the fields is {Creator}. I would recommend that instead of adding a keyword field. It is searchasble in the filter bar and can be used in a Smart Collection. By using the Sync Metadata button, you can apply a specific photographer to any number of selected images.

Another quick tip: Create an import preset w/ the creator information for each family member (including yourself). When you import a batch of images, just apply the proper preset. An advantage is that the spelling, etc. is always the same; makes filtering easier. Cheers,
