Can anyone help me with this? I had a picture in lr 2 and was comparing the before and after view. I then hit the reset button, and the before and after images were still different. Why would the before and after picture be different if I had reset the picture to its origional state? Thanks in advance.

The Before state isn't necessarily the same state as Reset. Before can be any point in the history or any snapshot (right-click on any history step or snapshot to set that point as the Before image). If you don't change it, the Before step is the import state, which may not be the same as the defaults if you applied a Develop preset at Import time.

Reset brings you back to Lightroom's defaults, not to the Import state. (To make this even more confusing, you can also customize Lightroom's defaults.)
