Batch processing or even LR droplets possible?

Hello,
I've been using lightroom for some months now and it works great.

I used to batch-process photos with color correction etc. in CS3 but I feel that correcting images works much better in LightRoom.

Is there a way to easily process 1'' to a 1''' images using LR settings?
(and without having to actually import all of them into LR)


I'm reading a lot of tips about putting CS3 droplets > into LR... but does LR also create stand-alone droplets of its own?

Welcome to the forum, Infofaith.

Lightroom doesn't have droplets (although it can use Photoshop droplets when exporting an image out of Lightroom). If you want to edit images using lightroom, you'll need to point it to the photos.

The nice thing about Lightroom is that it can point to an existing directory and do its magic (all the processing). You won't have to move the images from where they are already at.

but how exactly do you point lightroom to just a folder (that isn't in the catalogue) with photos in it?

Let's say I just want to adjust white balance on a 1'' photos that I don't want in the catalogue.

Inofaith, LR doesn't allow for that. It can only operate on files that you've imported into the catalog.

It's not within the workflow model that Lightroom provides. It sounds like you want to adjust the WB to JPEGs and then save them back into the same place?

LR would allow you to adjust the WB, but the idea is that you don't export the corrected files until you need them for some purpose (printing, uploading to a web site, etc.), and then you can delete the exported file once you've done that.

Are those images JPEGs? Lightroom won't adjust the white balance on them but just take note of the white balance you want applied to them in case you want create NEW JPEGs from those originals. No way to work on images not in the Catalog. And if you think that you can Import, white balance and then delete from catalog, that still won't work as there is no save button!
