Batch file to optimize lightroom only while running

Hello,

I am trying to determine Windows XP processes and services that are safe to turn off while I am running Lightroom in order to improve Lightroom's performance. I am developing a batch file that, prior to starting Lightroom will terminate these processes and services and upon Lightroom termination, these services and processes would be restarted. I am working on a list of suspect processes that have a strong impact on how Lightroom performance. It seems that following are the major ones:

1. searchindexer.exe (Windows search indexer)
2. ccSvcHost.exe (Norton)

Has anyone else come across native Windows services and/or application processes that just kill Lightroom performance for one reason or another? If so, let me know and I will try them out with my batch file. When I am finished with the batch file, I will upload it here for all to use.

Hi aperture1, welcome to the forum!

Yes, those would be the usual 2 - if Windows is trying to scan for its own indexing, or do virus scans, it can slow things down. I can't think of any others immediately, but anything that scans your computer would be a factor, so it's worth excluding LR's catalog, previews, caches and possibly images from those scans.
