Batch exposure levelling tool (please!)

I don't know if this feature is hidden away in the lightroom develop module, but I would certainly like to see it--and think other outdoor portrait photographers would loooove it too:

I shoot in manual when I can. It decreases editing time enormously. However, some situations demand Av mode, and this can mean individually editing a series of 1' exposures.

How about a tool/button to even out all the variation, so a group of photos can be adjusted as a single group (as if they were taken in manual).

i.e. out of a series of three exposures: f4.' 1/1''; f4.' 1/125; f4.' 1/2'', lightroom would then apply exposure adjustments of ', -1/3, -1 respectively.

This would save *hours* of editing.

Who else is in favour of this?

It's there, Develop menu > Settings > Match Total Exposures.

However, getting back to the "Match Total Exposures" tool,

I've played around with it a little, and am noticing that when an capture is underexposed, raising the exposure by a mathematical amount doesn't always compensate for loss of information in the blacks.

I find that underexposed images often require a lift in fill light, or less black clipping in order to match the exposure of correctly exposed images. I guess this is due to the dynamic range of current sensors, current bit depth, and less detail being found in the black portion of images.

Is there a way to adjust the "Match Total Exposures" tool, so that it will match the dynamic range and representation of tonality especially in the blacks, and not just the mathematical adjustment of overall exposure in an image?

I'm with you on this one... the current post-crop vignette tool is horrible.... it just seems to overlay gray on the image. Aperture's vignette tool is way better (I'll get kicked for that I'm sure :shock

Would it be possible to have the "Match Total Exposures" to match tonality especially in the blacks, and therefore to apply additional adjustments other than only exposure compensation?

I'm not suggesting anything complex, only the adjustments necessary to compensate for detail loss in blacks.

Is there anyone else noticing this problem?

Not today. Match Total Exposures simply adjusts the Exposure to so that the overall LV matches.

This might be worth a feature request -- there's a link on the blue bar at the top.
