I'm new to LR but so far I have added a lot of keywords to my photos.
I'm afraid of loosing all my keywords in a crash some day, so I tried
the "Export keywords" function, but it seems to me, that it only
makes a textfile that holds the keywords, not to what photo I have
added the different keywords.

Is it possible to take a backup of the keywords, ratings and so on,
so I can import it again and they will be attached to the right photos ?

Hi SpookiePower! Welcome to the forums! When you have a minute please go to the USER CP link above and fill in your signature! Thanks.

The keywords and other metadata reside in two places: the Lightroom database (i.e. your catalog) and embedded in the image (or in the case of RAW in an XMP sidecar file).

Two things you should backup are your catalog and your images. It is important that when LR offers to make a backup of your catalog you choose a different drive. LR defaults to the same drive your catalog is on and that is just asking for trouble!

If you have both of these backed up you will achieve your goal.

Just a precision: To have the metadata embedded in the file or into XMP sidecars, you either have to enable "Auto Write to XMP" in preferences or press Ctrl/Cmd-S for selected images. And welcome too!
