Backup Catelog "unexpected error"

My main catelog was on an SSD which has died.

My weekly backup was on another HDD (not NAS). I unzipped the file but cannot open the catelog. I get the message "The catelog cannot be opened due to an unexpected error"

I tried moving the catelog to another location and also changed the file to admin rights (just in case) but still unsuccessful.
I tried importing the .lrcat file into another another new catelog - unsuccessful

I tried going back to an older catelog but still had the same problem.

How can my unzipped .lrcat (multiple versions) be having errors?
How can it be fixed?


The strange thing is I have another separate catelog for a different set of files in another folder. This catelog, when unzipped, works perfectly and opened without any problems.
