I am having trouble, each time I import a raw b/w file into lightroom it appears as color. Can someone help me with this? How do you import a B/W file and have it remain B/W?

You don't, if you are shooting raw. Raw has no color. B&W is a camera/maufacture setting, like the jpeg preview which is proprietary. You can easily do a B&W preset, if you mostly shoot B&W or to apply wen you do. It can be set to closely match or netter what the camera B&W setting does.
