Hi,
I just tried out tethered shooting with my Canon 4'D, EOS Utility and LR 2.1 on my older laptop. To my surprise, the performance isn't too bad. Because "in the field" you don't do extensive editing, I can live with my Centrino 1,2 GHz.
I set LR to automatic import. Every new RAW file is then imported after a few seconds and I can view it in the grid view. If I activate the loupe view, it's even better because the newest picture is displayed automatically. The notification text tells that LR is rendering the previews of this picture.
Now my problem: The most important question during the first look-at is "is the picture sharp?". So I need the 1:1 previews. I can render them by selecting all pics and clicking "render 1:1 previews" in the menu. But then I have to wait several minutes. Is it possible to tell LR to render the 1:1 previews directly after import? During a photo session there are always short breaks of a few minutes, to the laptop could keep up with the newer files. What I want to avoid is the need of manual triggering the rendeing.
Thanks,
Thomas
