Auto tone - how does it work? Can it be customised?

I'm using LR2.2 and I also have PSCS2

Would like to ask how Auto Tone works in LR. For example, I noticed it prefers to apply highlight recovery instead of reducing exposure. I prefer the reverse to keep some zing in the image.

For example, in CS2, I noticed that Auto Levels can be customised in Auto Color Correction Options. Is there a similar customisation method in LR for the Auto Tone function?

Thanks

I wonder how auto tone "think" as well. I have noticed that auto tone also applies Fill Light in LR3 beta.

If not fully custom-able, I would like to have a post crop auto tone.

You can't control AutoTone, however there are a few options if you want a bit more control, such as creating an 'autotone' preset and then opening it in a text editor - you can edit the AutoExposure, AutoRecovery, AutoBlacks etc lines to only apply certain auto adjustments.
