Auto Adjustment

It's embarrassing to admit but since Lightroom arrived I never tried the auto adjustment button. Someone posted on another forum how well it worked so I tried it. It isn't infallible but it works well.

Is there a way to use the auto button in batch? Sometimes I have a number of shots where I'd like to start adjusting, or not, from what the auto produces.

Just select them all in Library Grid, and click the AutoTone button. In preferences, you can elect to apply AutoTone to every import, and with a teensy hack, you can create an AutoTone preset.

Another trick, in Develop, hold down shift while double-clicking the individual Tone adjustment labels. This will Auto adjust the individual parameters. I know for sure it works for Exposure, Blacks and Contrast. Not sure about the others.
