How do I listen to a Audio file from Nikon D3 Camera. I can listen in Bridge. I was told there was a way to listen to msg. in Lightroom . Bob

I don't have such myself to check, but I believe you have to look for the file listed under the Filename in the Right hand Metadata Panel of Library. The will then likely be an arrow or something next to it to play it.

Let us know if I got this correct at all.

Looks like you could update your signature Bob......;)

Bob, they appear under the filename in the Metadata pane. Make sure you're using the 'ALL' preset. Look for Audio Files. There's an arrow to the right of the file, pressing this will play it.

Thanks for the Confirmation of my info, Sean!

That it is as I remembered it should be. :)

Audio Files

Thanks for all the help. I was able to find the WAV. file in Metadata. It's right after File Name - This feature is new in V 1.1 - In my case the WAV.XMP shows but no arrow. the next line down (file Path) D3_Manual Zoom has an arrow if I click on this all images (thumbnails) show up with the WAV file. Clicking on this plays the Audio msg. Thanks again for all the help. Bob

Bob, do try it on you Mac and see if that makes a difference as to whether the arrow for play is there or not and let us know.

For those wondering how I know he tried on a PC and not the Mac listed in his Signature, I know Bob and he lives one town over. He told me in person a couple of hours ago!

See ya, Bob,

I'm shocked at how unusable this feature is in LR 2.'.

I use the microphone on my D3 to record pivotal moments of sporting events. Often times I'll shoot 2'' - 3'' images for a game. Many times I'll record a soundbite using a photo that isn't particularly interesting. This often happens about a minute after a team scored a goal. At that point I'll have moved on and shot some other scene but I'll record my audio as the announcer plays back the goal information over the loud speakers in the stadium.

LR 2.''s audio sidecar implementation is totally useless for me for multiple reasons:

1.) My LR 2.' swallows up my image and audio files when I do an import. My image files and audio files have the same name except the extension is different (e.g. DSC_1234.JPG and DSC_1234.WAV). In LR 2.' the photos appear to import but when I click on them they suddenly disappear without any error or reason. Thanks Adobe... I really appreciate that.

2.) LR 2.' doesn't give you ANY visual cue (e.g. badge, highlight, or "Select Files With Audio Sidecar") WHICH files have an audio sidecar. I understand if you're a casual user and you have 5-1' photos you can afford to go through each individual one, look at the metadata, and play the audio (assuming #1 would actually work!). But when you have 3''-4'' photos you want to be able to say "Tell me which ones have audio with them" and then the next thing you want to do is play them. How could you all MISSED that workflow?!

Seriously... clean this garbage up. Make the audio feature useful for journalists.

If you'd like to elaborate, we'll try to help .....

Yes, I see your point. Personally, I'm not aware of any workarounds to make this easier. The best way to see improvements in this situation is to ask for it:

[COLOR=#''''ff]I understand your frustration, but I don't see how ranting in an end user support forum is going to help. Like you, there's nothing we can do about it, other than hand-holding.
