assertion failed

Hi,

I recently purchased lightroom 2. It worked okay for a few days then started showing the message “assertion failed” when I opened it. It now doesn’t work at all. I have reinstalled it a few times to no avail. I have even restored my system to an earlier point and reinstalled lightroom again. Still not working. (This is on a XP system).

I have also installed it on my laptop (vista). So far it seems to be working okay on this.

Generally, the 'assertion failed' errors tend to be concerned with 'plug-ins' and presets. Have you added any of those to your setup?

There's a set of generic troubleshooting steps [color=#''''ff]here[/color]. Pay particular attention to #4.

Thanks for that Brad, I will try this. I have added the LRB Portfolio pluggin recently. Could this be causing the problem?

I suppose it could, but I haven't seen any reports of that happening in Sean's threads. Easy enough to temporarily disable it, by removing it from the Web Galleries folder.
