Aspect ratio is screwed up ...

I have a some images, from a library of more than 7'', that are squished-looking. I had rotated a few of the images in Windows Explorer before importing them into Lightroom. Some rotating in Lightroom hasn't corrected the problem. Is there a way in Lightroom to ensure that photos shot vertically can be viewed vertically without this squishing?

I have another version running on a MacBook Pro without issues. I think I'll remember to avoid rotating pics in Windows Explorer before importing ...

Yes, it's best to use SOOC (straight out of camera) with LR. In particular, some of the MS provided Windows tools do not play well with international photo/metadata standards. Lr should auto-rotate seamlessly for SOOC files. Also be careful of Windows Explorer properties/keywording, that's also not very-widely compatible.

this same problem was driving me nuts, and then I found that if I rotated the picture back to the proper or original aspect it was when I first viewed it with windows picture and fax viewer, it would correct itself in lightroom. never had this problem because ive always used raw formats up until recently

The Windows fax and image viewer re-writes the JPG files on rotation AND give a lower quality as the compression can not be set and is done by Windows on a unknown default.

Best is NOT to use this software on your original images.

If you JPG is not auto-rotated by LR then the requried information is not included in the JPG file.

I think the Pentax of my wife has also this bug, my Canon 3'D is fine and my Sinar also.
But my Canon 3''D was also not auto-rotated by LR.
