I've done this many times before: I choose one image from a large batch of images, create a Pre-set, then go into Library and select all and apply my preset. But today, for some reason, my Preset is not being applied to my selected images.

Am I imagining that I was able to do this previously?

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you in advance. :D

Two possible reasons:

(1) You need to be in Grid view on the primary monitor for changes to apply to multiple images in Library.

(2) You need to have "Show Metadata for Target Photo Only" unchecked. It's in the Metadata menu.

Hi, Mark, thanks for your reply.

1. I am in Grid View.
2. I can't find the option you refer to - can explain more specifically where I will find this? I looked under Metadata - do you mean the menu on the right hand side, where you enter copyright info, etc? Or is there another Metadata menu somewhere?

Thanks again.

Also, you may prefer to use the Sync function rather than creating new presets each time...

Not sure what this means.
My method is
1. to create one pre-set for a particular batch of like-photos in the Develop module, then
2. Go back into Library module, select all, apply pre-set to all,
3. Go back to Develop module and do a quick run through, checking and adjusting for individual exposures.
4. Export all.
Don't know if this is right or wrong, but it's what I've come up with and has worked so far, until today. And as far as I know, I haven't changed any settings.

Thanks.

If you don't see the menu, cycle the "Full Screen Mode" by pressing F a couple times. There are 3 states for this mode.

What you can do in Develop is to tweak one photo then extend your selection in the filmstrip and click the "Sync..." button bottom of right panel. Then you can choose what settings you want to apply to the other selected images.

Another thing you can do is to select images needing similar treatment and Ctrl-Click the "Sync..." button so it become "AutoSync". From now on, what you do to one image will be done to all others selected! You can then toggle back the "AutoSync" button with Ctrl-Click on "AutoSync" and it revert back to "Sync...".

It's in the Metadata menu, in the menu bar. (It's been a long time since I used Windows, but isn't there a menu bar at the top of the application window?)

Oh, I couldn't find it because that menu is only there in Library mode, and I was looking while in Develop.

Yes, found it, and the option you mentioned previously is already unchecked.

I'm vexed perplexed at this point because I have always been able to perform this simple operation, have changed no settings that I know of, but am unable to proceed with a task that should have been completed about three hours ago (the story of my life, I'm afraid ).

Sara, HOW are you applying the preset? Via the Quick Develop panel or right click menu - or by going back to Develop module?
