In the past I would select say 30 photos, and apply some keywords, eg Wales dogs and beach. All keywords would be applied to all 30 photos.
Now most of my photos have no keywords applied. The first photo chosen has all 3. Many others have none or a keyword applied previously. I suspect a setting. Any ideas? Thanks

Yes. At the top of the Metadata panel, make sure you have "Selected Photos" highlighted, not "Target Photo". Also make sure your images are selected in the Grid, not the Loupe+Filmstrip.

To apply to all selected in the grid, choose "Selected Photos", "Target Photo" only applies changes to the one active (most selected) image.

The Target Photo/Selected Photos option only affects fields that you set inside the Metadata panel.

@Anteric57, you were most likely in Loupe view (one photo showing) and entered the keywords into the Keywording panel or checked the keywords in the Keyword List panel, which applied them just to the currently displayed photo. Two workarounds:

- Enter the keywords in Grid view, and they'll be applied to all the selected photos.

- In the Keyword List panel, right-click a keyword and do Add.

LR's rules for which commands affect multiple selected photos are very inconsistent, to the point that even experts get confused:
