anyone having trouble w/LR freezing during web uploads?

currently im using LR 1.3, but ive noticed this as long as ive been using the web gallery upload, prior to 1.3

anyways, sometimes when i create a larger gallery (more than say 2') i seem to have trouble uploading a gallery. often the progress seems to get stuck around 5'-65% and seems to say there forever. now i dont know if im not being patient enough, but i think, in the past, ive let it run for hours and would come back and it'd still be there.

sometimes id just start over and it would get it done at a steady pace...

originally my web host was GISOL (and without going into how i REALLY feel about them) i just assumed that my problems might have had something to do with them.

now im trying to redo my site on godaddy and im having trouble getting galleries up there as well.

some info that might be useful...

im using a user tweaked flash template customized off of one of the defaults with the extra large thumbs and images at 7' quality

passive data transfer.

im not going to rule out it could be something of a weak wireless connection because i was having trouble using godaddy's ftp client and trying to upload folders that LR exported, but i was wondering if there was anything i could tweak in LR that would keep me from freezing in uploads.

dont know if this will have anything to do with it, by many of the pictures are on external HDs, though LR "sees" all of them. just throwing that out there.

i used the term "larger" galleries but in searching i saw that some people upload galleries of more than 5'' images...:shock:

many of my files are 1ds2 RAW files...would that have any effect?

I have not really had any issues uploading. i did just recently though get an error message while uploading, but i think it had more to do with my web server being down or really slow at the time. The funny thing is that it only happened on my home computer and not my office computer. It could have also been my internet speed at the time of upload. At any rate, Lightroom itself never froze or crashed.

Steven, this won't help your problems, but FWIW, I'm at GoDaddy and haven't had any problems with standard FTP u/l's. I think, (but not positive) I tried the LR u/l module once, successfully. I don't typically use LR to u/l directly, I prefer to see what's happening with an FTP client.

quick question...i assume youre talking about the little java script uploader thingy at godaddy, correct? i notice out to the side it warns that the program/client thingy isnt for large amounts of date...just curious what qualifies as too much?

I meant I use a standard FTP client. I use FileZilla, on XP, which is donation ware. I'm happy with it.

What I was really trying to say was that I hadn't experienced any transfer problems at GoDaddy, because you didn't seem happy with your previous host site.

But also, I don't have much experience with the built in LR FTP uploader.
