If I add a pick or reject flag to a photo. It is persistent everywhere except the Target Collection. Why?

Re: Flags and Target Collection

Because flags are local. What is a pick in a collection may not be one in another. Ratings on the other hand are global; a good photo is a good photo everywhere.

Re: Flags and Target Collection

I do not understand. I added flags to the Catalog entry "Previous Import" In "Previous Import". I flagged several photos and added them and others to the "Target Collection" No flags show up in the "Target Collection". I have a Smart Collection named "Recent RAW" The Flagged and unflagged photos from "Previous Import" show up in this collection properly flagged. As I said it is persistent everywhere except the Target Collection.

EDIT: Actually, Smart Collections persist the Pick flags. Regular Collections do not. Smart Collections Can not by nature be a target Collection.

Re: Flags and Target Collection

I think that's because flags are local to the "container" of the image, so to a folder or to a dumb collection. Smart collections, I think, draw their flags from the folders. The target collection is just the dumb collection which currently gets the results of hitting B.

John is correct. Think of Smart Collections as saved queries and it makes sense. Smart Collections don't really "hold" images like Collections do.
