Another Colour question

I have Lr 2.3 and Ps CS4. I use Lr for most of my photo work but every now and then I have to do some extra work in PS. The problem is that there is a colour mis-match between Lr and Ps. Not again I hear you cry but let me explain as I have done a lot of investigation.

I have a Dell Dimension 915' with a Dell 19'7 FP monitor. I have a second 17" monitor as well but the main one is thr Dell. In my system setup I have loaded the ICm for the Dell 19'7FP. When I open a photo in Lr it show the same in both monitors and I think the colour is what it should be. When I select Edit photo in Photoshop it open and the photo is displayed but t has a definite blue cast. I have Ps set up to use ProPhoto and Lr set to use ProPhoto when exporting a photo. I also have Ps set to use Adobe ACE but have tried the Windows ICM and it does not seem to make any difference. Now if I delete the 197'FT ICM from the system and use the default or select ProPhoto or AdobeRGB1998 , then the photo is displayed identically in Ps and Lr but with a blue cast.

I would have thought that I should be using the 19'7FP ICM and that it would give the correct colour. How can I get Ps to use that ICM or what else can you advise.

Welcome to the forums Michael!

You 19'7FP.icm is most probably bad as are most that come with monitors. I think you will have to create a new one...

Just to clarify what Denis said, the canned profiles that come with many monitors are often partially corrupted, which results in Lightroom displaying colours incorrectly. Using sRGB for your monitor profile is a stop-gap, but you'll get the best results from calibration hardware such as Eye One or Spyder.
