Annoying problem using external editor :(

Hi,

For the first time yesterday, I started to use external editor Noise Ninja with my LR2.5.

But randomly, when I clicked a photo and start editing in Noise Ninja, LR complained that it cannot prepare to open the photo!

I tried several times and it is the same, and I have to delete the left-over files (*Edit-*.jpg and *.swp) in the file system.

Found (suppose to be) a workaround by checking the file system folder and manually remove the read-only attribute, which it should not be set. I dont know, for some strange reason, this read-only attribute was set (I read it is Windows XP bug).

However, I dont think this is the issue because I managed to edit several other more photos successfully.

My photos are stored on a NAS (NetGear) connected via 1GB network link. Probably this is the problem? I doubt because this problem only occur with editing externally. I have never got any problem with anything else.

So, do you know if there is anything I can do?

Don't know what the *.swp files are (probably NN settings or so) but the *Edit-*.jpg files are the ones created by NN so you shouldn't remove those.

Try it with a few files on the local hard drive - if it works correctly with those, you'll know it's the network storage that's the issue. If it is, then we can think about workarounds.

I do not think that is the NN problem, because the pop up error message was from LR.

And I have doubt with the network storage issue because this problem only occur with LR external editing functionality. But if it is, it would be difficult to pin-point.

At this moment, I applied some "exclusion" in the anti-virus setting (I forgot to do this), for example: the LR program folder, LR cache, NN, etc. This helps reduce the load and I hope will cure the problem. So far, I have not got the problem anymore.
