I could swear that I used to have a little red x button the upper right corner of LR that allowed me to minimize or exit. I don't recall having to click File, Exit to close LR (and I know I never used a shortcut).

I checked under View and all the obvious places, but I couldn't find way to bring that series of buttons back. Was it all just a lovely dream???

your dream comes true again if you use the "F" shortcut to toggle through the different fullscreen modes

No, this does not work for all windows programs, it's a LR specific shortcut. And .... enjoy your new life
