Amend exif date time on scanned slides - what am I doing wrong?

This trick allows you to amend the exif date and time to something a bit more correct. I had already imported all my scanned slides earlier so I wasnt able to use the preset he mentioned. Not to worry I thought and I selected a group of slides (1' or so) that had the same capture date (as in the date I actually took the picture) and selected Metadata, Edit Capture time. Selected radio button #1 Adjust to specified time & date and set it to '3-1'-1996 '':'':'' (dd/mm/yy format) and pressed change. Then hit Ctrl S to save the metadata to file.
When I reselected the individual files to review the EXIF date time only one of the digital slides had the correct time (I set), the others differed by quite a lot as in some of them showed e.g. 24-'8-2''8. Selecting multiple pics in one go doesnt seem to work.....

I scanned all my slides during 2''8 and 2''9.
If possible I'd like to 'date' my scanned slides to the correct capture date ....... but to do this one by one
Should I be doing this differently?

When you select a group of images and change the date/time, the first image (the one shown in the dialog box) will be adjusted as you direct. All other images in the group will be adjust by the same amount of time. So if all the images in the group are not time stamped the same they will change differently.

For example if the first image started at 4/1/2''9 1:''pm and the others are at 9/1/2''8 2:''pm and you change the time to be 4/2/2''9 1:''pm THEN the first image will be at 4/2/2''9 1:''pm but the others will now read 9/2/2''8 2:''pm. LR sees a 24 hour time shift on the first image and applies the "time shift" to the other images, NOT the actual date chosen.

So choose images with the same time/date stamp and you should be able to adjust the group correctly.

Gene, thx for the reply, I understand what you're saying. Unfortunately as there's also a timestamp I'll never be able to select more than 1 to do what I thought I would be able to do. Only the Canon 1V recorded timestamp data even if it is an analog camera so a fair bit of my slides I have no timestamp for. I was hoping to set the time part to '':'':''. It's going to be one big chore to get the exif date right and I think I'll pass on this one.

I see you're on Windows. Go to http://www.photome.de/home_en.html and see if PhotoME can help you. It's a free EXIF editor and seems to be able to change data in batches.

I'd make a copy of 1' or so files to experiment on.
