Hello!

In the Catalog panel I have an 'Already in Catalog' group in adition to the usual 'All Photographs', 'Quick collection' and 'Previous Import'. I'm not sure at which stage it appeared but it has been there some time, perhaps since 2.' was launched?

Anyway, I've ignored it as I've had better things to do but now I would like to deal with it. The photographs ARE duplicates with just a ''-' added to the beginning of one set of the filenames. This wasn't done by me (or my wife to my knowledge).

I presume that I can safely delete these photos? I've looked at them in the Finder and they appear to be in two separate locations. My worry is that they're my wife's pictures and I'm dead meat if I lose them!

Why has this happened? I thought it was impossible to import duplicates with the 'don't import duplicates' box ticked.

Apologies if this is a well known feature, I can miss the most obvious! I've not been able to find any info regarding this on searching here or going through the LR2 books incl. Victoria's.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Best wishes

Ken Bird

This is one of the so called "Special Collections" like "Last Imported". You can safely delete. This will not remove images but just that temporary Collection.

There are a few that can appear Ken. 'Error Images' is another one you might see from time to time. They're just temporary collections, so you can always safely right click and choose 'Remove this Temporary Collection'.

Thank you for that explanation Victoria.

Between you and Denis I think I've just had a LightBulb moment! I'm going to go away and think about it but I think I have GOT it! Thank you. I think it is a residual from LR1 but I'm still shaky when it comes to Library and Catalog!

Thank you both for your time.

Ken
