After importing profiles, they don’t show up. What am I doing wrong?

I made a whole lot of profiles to use with IR photography. I intend to use them on my iPad, where I do all my editing.

I made them with CamerRAW on a Windows 10 PC. After waiting and restarting all the apps (LR on PC, on iPad and Camera RAW and even restarting my PC) the profiles never showed up on my iPad.

Then I went into CameraRAW where they still exist since I made them there, and I exported them. Then I tried to import them in Lightroom (non-classic) on the PC. The little loading bar appeared for a second and I got no warnings or anything. But the profiles didn’t show up.

I checked if they were hidden or if they were under a different existing category instead of a new one, but could not find them.

How do I get the profiles over to Lightroom on my iPad? Or even into Lightroom (non-classic) on my PC?

It’s so confusing. And it’s insane that Adobe doesn’t just give us a button to import profiles with on the iPad version of Lightroom. Not to mention a way to delete them too. Basic profile management is something they only managed for the PC versions for some reason. I can’t make sense of their design decisions.

Point is that I’ve done this before and it worked that time. It was just earlier this week. I can’t imagine windows has suddenly gotten too old?
It could be if you updated Lightroom in the meantime and there actually was an update on 16 April... Sorry for asking, but I'm running out of ideas and I don't remember having seen anywhere in this thread that you said you tried this successfully just earlier this week.

Yeah I might have forgotten to say that I did it recently. Sorry about that. About updating though, I just reinstalled, so I’m surely on the latest version now. Are you suggesting that the newer version might have a bug or something that the older version didn’t? Not sure what version I used the first time when I was successful.

I’ve made a thread about this on the Adobe forum now.
If there is a way to just get support from Adobe, I’d love to know about it. I looked, but it seems like the forum is the only option?

Yes, the difference might be in that update. Not necessarily a bug, but it could be that your version of Windows 10 is now too old for Lightroom 9.3, while it wasn't for Lightroom 9.2 (assuming that was what you used before).

Yes. You could call their support, but these people are not known for their deep knowledge (and that's an understatement)...

Is it possible to download older versions?

I gotta admit, I hate Adobe. If Lightroom wasn’t the best photo editing tool on iPad, I would not use their apps. After years and years, since before the subscriptions started, I’ve given them money. And still they aren’t implementing basic tools into their apps like ways to manage profiles. You have to do this stupid roundabout crap that requires a PC instead. Not to mention all the features that Lightroom Classic has that still aren’t in the iPad version.

All that is to say, I’m so frustrated right now and learning that their support team (if you can even find it) don’t know much about the things they’re supposed to know about, is making me even more frustrated.

How DO you contact the support? Is it obvious on their website and I’m just overlooking it?

Johan, I read the discussion as related to LrC; this point on Lr and iPad didn't seem to be addressed (since the OP asked above), but forgive me if it had already been addressed.

I have no idea how you came to that conclusion, because it is the other way round. The discussion is not related to Lightroom Classic. It is about importing profiles in Lightroom (and consequently syncing them to Lightroom on iPad), and why that doesn’t work for the OP, even though he is using the correct procedure.

So do any of you know how to contact Adobe's support? I don't know what else to do at this point. No one has replied on the Adobe forum yet.
You can call them on the phone, but like I said, Adobe support has a poor reputation. It’s worth trying, however.

Totally my mistake, my apologies.

Sorry, I missed this question. Yes, it is possible. In the CC app, click on the three dots. https://helpx.adobe.com/download-in...ll-previous-versions-creative-cloud-apps.html
Im definitely going to try this!

Also, I got in contact with the support team via the chat thing. I spoke to a person after getting past the AI crap. Gave them access to my PC even. They were not able to make it work either. They were not really doing anything I had not already done. So they are supposed to escalate the issue and someone is supposed to send me an email.

Its WILD to me that importing profiles on the iPad is not possible. Thats what Im trying to do. You need a PC! Thats insane!
And the way I understand Adobe, they seem to only implement new features if they get enough votes on their forum. EVEN BASIC FUNCTIONALITY LIKE THIS?!!

I guess that explains why the iPad version still does not have calibration sliders, or panorama stitching, or aspect ratio with custom numbers, or why the masks don't have all the same options that Classic has.

Why is Adobe like this? I'm so frustrated! I feel like I'm very logical and I'm making sense, but maybe I'm not. I dunno.

If Adobe ever wonders why so many people don't like them, then they aren't paying attention.

Okay I'm done venting now. Sorry. Years and years of subscribership and lack of logic from Adobe has built up a lot of frustration in me.

Downgrading to 9.2 did not work unfortunately. Thank you very much for your patience with me though,

If the Adobe support team can’t figure this out, then I guess I finally have to ditch Adobe. I’ve wanted to but I haven’t found a good enough replacement for Lightroom on iPad yet. There are features there that I love.

God this is frustrating. I just wanna make my photos.

No, that is not true. The votes help Adobe prioritizing feature requests, but in the end they decide. There are many new features nobody ever voted for, simply because nobody even thought this would be possible one day.

There is one idea you might want to try out. All your Lightroom stuff is in the cloud, your local library is just a cache. It may be that this cache is corrupted somehow and causes your problem. So here’s what you could do. Quit Lightroom if it is running and then delete your entire ‘Lightroom Library.lrlibrary’. Then start Lightroom again. Lightroom will act as if it was installed for the very first time and (probably) ask you to login. Then it will go online and find your cloud library. It will rebuild the local cache from the cloud, and if the local cache was indeed corrupted this may solve your problem…

Yeah you’re right. I’m still frustrated that some basic stuff isn’t in the iPad version though. Especially stuff that is in the PC version (not classic). Like surely I’m not out of line for thinking that most of the features that the PC version has should be mirrored on the iPad? Or at the very least, basic ones that has to do with the functionality of the app itself, like importing profiles. That just feels like such a fundamental feature to have.

That’s an interesting idea. I’ll try it. I just have to figure out where the library is on my hard drive. I’ll update here soon.

Okay deleting the library did not help unfortunately. I restarted both the app and the PC and nothing.

Maybe I should have asked this before, but I was unsure of how deep your (or anyone else’s here) knowledge of Windows 10 is. So Wi does has this program called “Services”. It lets you get control of programs on your computer on a deeper level I guess. I’m not actually knowledgeable enough to know if I’m saying this correctly. But essentially it will let you force programs (and processes?) to not start. You can switch from automatic starts, to manual starts to disable.

I use it to prevent apps from starting when my PC start. So my question is, does anyone here know if there is anything in that program that I could have messed with that would prevent the profiles from appearing in Lightroom?

I know it’s a long shot, but I just gotta try since it’s on my mind.

And to be clear, I’ve reinstalled all my Adobe apps, so they should have their settings reset. And I’ve checked that they aren’t disabled. I can only find one and it’s called AdobeUpdateService. It’s running like normal. But what if there is something else with a name that isn’t as obvious but it’s still linked to Adobe apps?

So that’s my question. Is there something in the Services program that I should make sure is turned on? (Other than the one I just mentioned.)

(I feel like I’m burdening y’all. Especially you Johan. Noting works and you keep spending your time and energy on this. I’m very grateful and very sorry that nothing is working.)

I found it in the Pictures folder in my documents. The path you wrote here does not have a “Data” folder at the end, on my end.
H’m, that would mean that this changed. I’m pretty sure that the path I gave used to be correct. Maybe a Windows Lightroom user can tune in?

Yeah I do not know where it should be or why it was there.

I’m trying one more thing, which is do reinstall once more. But this time, I will manually delete every folder that is left behind after uninstalling. Everyone I can find at least. Maybe I should have done that the first time, but I didn’t think of it.

Adobe has a special ‘Cleaner’ app to delete really everything. That is often advised as the last ditch: https://helpx.adobe.com/download-in...re/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html
I actually had to use that yesterday because Creative Cloud would not uninstall. But I’m pretty sure a lot of folders was left behind. Though I didn’t check.

Anyway, deleting everything I could find with the word “adobe” in it (minus a few things that seemed like I shouldn’t, like stuff from my browser), but it didn’t work either. Still can’t import.

LR still remembers older profiles I made long ago. But the new ones never show up.

I feel like there is something wrong on my account at this point. Something under the hood where I can’t do anything about it. Wonder if Adobe can.
